My attempts to bring out the best in me.

WOD and Recipes.

*yawn*

Today has been one of those days where I just really want a ‘redo’ button. I woke up late…couldn’t find my keys to save my life…had to use my spare…But somehow I still managed to make it to my client’s house bright and early at 7:30 a.m. Today was their first day…They may or may not hate me in the morning. Oops.

Then I went to work to get my own workout in. Today was Max Press, High Rep Handstand push ups, and then a 5 round metcon.

Looked like:

ME Push Jerk:
45x5x2, 65×5, 85×5, 95×3, 110×3 (PR!)
HR HSUP (one every :30 for 3 minutes), so six total. These were with feet positioned at a steep incline.

WOD:
5 Rounds for Time
—-
5 Ground to Overhead (65)
5 pull ups (banded)
5 squat cleans (65)
5 box jumps (no plyo boxes, used flat bench instead)

Splits: 1:31/1:32/1:36/1:50/1:35
Total working time: 7:24

This was tough. It was a lot of fun. The squat cleans were probably the hardest. Cleans still give me a hard time as far as getting the bar up high enough to receive it on my shoulders, but today’s felt a lot better and landed more where they should. Snatches were excellent. Really like that fluid movement.

Trained a client, got bummed that my 13yo client canceled on me (she had a cheerleading game), and then came home and got domestic.

Experimented with a primal egg muffin recipe thing.

Six eggs
2 tbsp greek yogurt
1 cup spinach
5oz roasted chicken breast
1/4c. shredded cheese (yeah yeah, primal violation)

Mix it all up, bake for 18-20 minutes. Haven’t tried them yet…but they look promising enough. We’ll see. 🙂

And she’s back!

Yeah, I apparently disappeared from the world for a while. But I’m back…and better faster stronger than before.

A lot has changed since the last time I updated, and I’m not going to rehash all of that. I’m going to start with NOW, because that’s what’s important. I will say that I just got my personal training certification in August…and I have four clients already, which is a pretty good start I’d say. I’ve also taken up a whole different style of my own training…

Enter CrossFit. There is no going back. I have never been so pushed in my life, so drained, so challenged and so accomplished all at the same time. It’s a focus on metabolic conditioning with strength bias, and I’ve been doing this for a month. My diet is 90% Paleo, and my workouts are spot on and intense as hell. And my body? It’s responding with an insane quickness.

But mostly, I’m having FUN with it which is SO important. It’s not about the vanity behind it…It’s about being better today than you were yesterday; it’s about leaving the gym (or the garage, some days) knowing you’re a happier, healthier, fitter person than you were when you got there; about having a better time and moving more weight than last time. It’s You vs. You.

So here’s to hoping this one will last a little better than the last go ’round…I’ve got big plans, big hopes! Here goes nothing…
